Hybrid Working Schedules

Introduction to Hybrid Schedules

WiggleDesk supports 6 key hybrid working styles. This guide introduces you to each of these and how they help with planning when to come into office

Managing a hybrid workforce has many challenges and WiggleDesk's goal is to make managing this complex task as simple as possible. With our interactive bookable floor plans, it makes it super simple to book spaces in your office, and with this new update, it's now possible to understand and manage the different types of schedules of your hybrid team.

Having spoken with thousands of business leaders over the last year and a half, we've identified six key hybrid working styles that we can now support.

Six key hybrid working styles

  1. Working from office
Which we're all very familiar with before COVID.
  2. Working from home
Which we were introduced to during COVID and have become very used to!
  3. Hybrid (free choice)
Many organisations coming out of covid adapted this hybrid working style. Essentially, people can book any space in their office at their own discretion, given custom rules that you can set up in the management section. WiggleDesk was built specifically to make this easy.
  4. Hybrid - Flexi permanent spaces (New)
This is when you can be assigned a permanent desk pods, meeting room like a car parking space, and you don't need to then make these explicit bookings that are just your permanent spaces, but you can, on top of this, release them on certain days or weeks that you might be out of the office when you're traveling on vacation or for maternity or paternity leave.
  5. Hybrid - Number of days per week (New)
This might be the case when you want management to come in five days a week, but you're okay with the admin team coming in two days a week.
  6. Hybrid - Specific week days (New)
This allows you to mark specific days in the week that people are expected to be coming into the office. This might look something like: "IT is coming in on Monday and Tuesday", "Finance is coming in on Thursdays and Fridays.", or "Bob is coming in on Monday, Alice is coming in on Tuesday".

Why is this important?

Without the knowledge of when your team are going to be coming into the office, you can often end up in situations when one person in the team will turn up and the rest of their team aren't in the office and they've made a huge effort in commuting to end up coming into an empty building.

With these views it makes it really easy to see ahead of time when and where your team will be coming into the office, crucially even if they haven't explictly booked any spaces.

When exploring your team's calendar for the upcoming weeks, you're able to get a better idea of when your team will be coming in, making it much easier to plan ahead for collaborative work.

Hybrid Working Schedules

In this example we can see that Thursday looks like like a good day to come in as that's when most people in the example team are expected to be in the office.

This makes managing these very complex hybrid working schedules that may well be different across teams or even within teams, very easy.
